Police probe fatal shooting of Rand Water official, protector

JOHANNESBURG – The Rand Water official who was shot dead at Zakariyya Park Community hall has been identified.
Police are investigating why Teboho Joala was killed.
The incident occurred during a Back-to-School campaign at the centre.
During the same event, City of Johannesburg Chief Whip Sthembiso Zungu was shot and wounded.

ANC Johannesburg spokesperson Masilo Serekele says Zungu is in stable condition.
“Zungu is doing very well. He got wounded in the arm and leg,” Serekele said.
“He’s in good spirits.”
Asked about what the motive behind the shooting could be, Serekele said they don’t want to speculate.
“Safe to say we’ll allow police to do their work, to do their investigation.
“When they’re done they should be able to brief the public on what really happened.”
